How do the virtual tutoring sessions operate?
Tutoring sessions operate via Zoom. Once your booked session is confirmed, an email is sent to you with a personalized Zoom meeting link. At the time of your scheduled session, simply click and join. In the Zoom session, the student and tutor interact and work out math problems and discuss the math curriculum through video using the computers' webcams and Zoom's screen sharing features. This allows for questions and answers to be thorough and seamless.

How do the in person tutoring sessions operate?
You will receive a confirmation email that your session has been booked. You will also receive a follow up email or phone call to discuss the location of the session which is suitable for both tutor and student. During the session, the student and tutor interact and work out math problems and discuss the math curriculum.

How long is each tutoring session?
Each tutoring session is 1 hour long. If you would like to discuss other options, do not hesitate to contact us.

Do I need to have Zoom downloaded onto my device for a virtual tutoring session?
Yes, you will need to download Zoom onto the device you will use to participate in tutoring. An email is sent to you before your session which includes a Zoom meeting link. If you already have Zoom installed on your device, simply click the link and join. If you do not have Zoom installed on your device, upon clicking the link in your email, you will be prompted to download it. Although this will only take a few moments, we suggest downloading Zoom in advance of your session so we can jump right into the math when your session begins.

Do I need a Zoom account for a virtual tutoring session?
No, you do not need your own Zoom account to participate in the virtual tutoring. Once you have installed Zoom onto your device, simply click the link in your confirmation email and join.

Are the virtual tutoring sessions secure?
Yes, the virtual tutoring sessions are secure. With each booking, you receive an email with an individualized Zoom link. All Zoom tutoring sessions are recorded for safety and security of student and instructor. In addition, the Waiting Room feature on Zoom is activated therefore the instructor will only allow the scheduled student into their meeting.

What do I need to bring to a tutoring session?
To participate in a virtual tutoring session, you will need an electronic device (desktop, laptop, tablet, or cell phone) with internet connection and webcam. Also needed for your session are any curriculum materials. For SAT/ACT Prep, this would be the designated test prep book. For Math Class Tutoring, this would be class notes, classwork/homework, and textbook. School supplies including pencil, pen, paper, and calculator are also needed.

Will there be tutoring homework given?
For Math Class Tutoring, students will not be required to do additional homework. For SAT/ACT Prep, students will have exam-specific homework assigned from their test prep book to be completed prior to the next session.

How many SAT/ACT Prep sessions should I schedule and at what frequency?
To determine the number and frequency of sessions for SAT/ACT Prep, we must consider the student’s needs and goals along with the date the exam will be taken. Generally, we suggest a 1 hour session, once to twice per week in order for students to balance their exam specific prep homework along with their academic obligations during the school year. If your desired test date is fast approaching, you are using your Summer break to prepare, or you are in need of intensive math remediation, you may choose to increase the frequency.

The number of Math Class tutoring sessions is very specific to each student’s needs and goals. Our priority is always guiding the student to reach their desired success, therefore, we monitor progress and communicate throughout the process. This way, we can provide you with the best feedback to help you decide the number of sessions you wish to schedule.

How frequently should I schedule Math Class Tutoring?
The frequency of Math Class Tutoring sessions is very specific to each student’s needs and goals. You may want to schedule daily for homework help, once or twice a week to keep up with the curriculum being covered in class, or a sequence of on demand sessions leading up to a quiz or test.
